Hello to anyone thinking they would like to enjoy some yacht racing in Japan. I have attached the Kansai yacht club “White Sail” PHRF race calendar below and hope you would like to join us. I will be out there for each of the posted races sailing aboard an X-99 by the name of ROXY. We are by no means the fastest boat on the water but we have a lot of fun.
Come on and enjoy some yacht racing with us. If you do not have a boat and need a ride please feel free to contact me and I will do my very best to line you up with a boat. mark@sails.co.jp

Thompson 680 Longtze Best Racing Sailboat for Asia 2009.

There is no doubt that Sportsboats must be included within that group leading the way in sail boat expansion across the world today. Steve Thompson’s Longtze 680 is a great part of this expansion. It is sailed all over the world today and at the recent Europe Cup it was a massive whose who of yacht racing on the line for the 680 champions ship and sponsors included the names of companies such as Lufhanse.
During the prize giving ,Blu Inc Media’s Olivier Burlot, “exclaimed; “Tonight’s event shows how the Asia Boating Awards are unique in that they recognize the efforts being made in this part of the world to develop the leisure marine industry, and to create a new and exciting cruising ground for the world’s yachtsmen.”
Here in Japan the world of Sports Boats is just getting going. In fact as I write this article there are less than four Sports Boats in the country. I am absolutely sure that this will soon change as more and more Japanese sailors realize how much fun they can have for a very small price tag.
Sports are massive in the power department. It is not unusual to see 24 feet Sport’s boats boasting sail areas larger than their larger 30 feet fixed keel cousins. Do remember that although sports boats are fixed keel boats they are very light and are able to be carried on trailers. As a common trait, they all have retractable keels.
Here in Japan we make the Thompson T7, T8, T830 and import all other Thompson Tboats. For a made in Japan TBoat of your own contact Mark today here at sails.co.jp.
Thompson T7 Sports Boat at Airlie Race week

We can not say the same thing yet about sailing in Japan however the ever growing fleet of sailing Sports Boats competing at Australia’s, Airlie Race week is just fantastic to see. I was over at You Tube and I found this great little video of the Sports Boat fleet sailing at Airlie race week.
For those of you who know the lines of the Thompson boats just take a look at how many Thompson T7 sail boats go past the camera. We may also see the Melges 24 fleet and of course the Elliot 680 which eventually won the day on handicap.
The T7 is one of my personal favorites and as such I was very happy to see her out there sailing with the rest of these ambitious sports boats.
Great going out there guys.
26 foot Sports Boat chases 50 footer.

I love sailing in Japan and love sports boats. You really have to see it to believe it. OK, I know this is not the sexy Sydney to Hobart millions dollar type video clip but this IS real sailing. This Thompson T8sc Sports boat is too short to be allowed to race the 5,500 Melbourne to Osaka Cup but if it were allowed I bet it would have a go. This is adventure and this is the stuff real sailors dreams are made of. I know it sloppy stuff but the very first time I saw this video it was an emotional event. You are going to need 8 minute and 54 seconds to watch it all but if you don’t watch it till the end it means nothing.
Just watch as this little 26 foot Thompson sail boat design sports boat takes on the 40 and 50 feet racers in this video. Right from the start until the very end she never gives up. Not sure who these boys are however my congratulations go out them and as far as the boat goes, well Thomo what can we say. Fantastic.
