The race starts in font of Kansai Yacht Club at 7:00 pm 4th June. We race to about Sumoto and then turn around a Buoy and come back to Nishinomiya. There are no stops.  Total distance about 60 miles.

Invitation to Join Yacht Racing in Japan.

Hello to anyone thinking they would like to enjoy some yacht racing in Japan.  I have attached the Kansai yacht club “White Sail” PHRF race calendar below and hope you would like to join us. I will be out there for each of the posted races sailing aboard an X-99 by the name of ROXY. We are by no means the fastest boat on the water but we have a lot of fun.

Come on and enjoy some yacht racing with us. If you do not have a boat and need a ride please feel free to contact me and I will do my very best to line you up with a boat. mark@sails.co.jp

Some notes on these races.
1. The races with “Party” mentioned are simple after race parties held at the KYC clubhouse. It is important to the club spirit that we all join these parties. Usually finish by 5:30 pm.
2. The September Cruising Race is planned to start at Nishinomiya and race to Suntopia Marina at Sumoto (Southern Awajishima)  on the first day. There will be a party that night in Suntopia marina. We sleep the night at Suntopia. The next morning we make a new start line and race back to Nishinomiya.
3. October Regatta. This is two days racing with two races each day. We should try and do our best to have same crew members for full regatta.

Sailing Japan with Kansai Yacht Club Sept. 2009 Cruising Yacht Race.

Dufour 41 classicFor those sailing in Japan and wanting to participate in a fun yacht race I am happy to inform of this September’s Kansai Yacht Club Cruising Race.  The race will be held over 2 days 5th and 6th of September 2009 with a sleep over on Awajishima (Awaji Island) along the way. Kansai Yacht Club White Sail August Point Race.

white sail 08Just a brief note to let folk know that Kansai Yacht Club or KYC as she is affectionately known around these waters will be holding a Whitesail club point yacht race August 1st, 2009. Late entries are being accepted so if you want to join in the race give Kansai Yacht Club a call. The notice of race entries I received this morning showed some pretty stiff competition and as such I expectmarvellous race. The weather and wind do also seem to be on side which of course is always welcome. Kansai Yacht Club English speaking sailors are growing in numbers, and we would love to see more and more non Japanese sailors out there. Don’t get me wrong we love the Japanese sailors out there. After all, it is their water. However, we non Japanese are still heavily outnumbered. If you own a yacht then come on and join us. If you do not own a yacht yet would like to become a crew member then come and join us. If you nothing about sailing yet feel maybe you would like to take up the sport of Sailing Japan then come and join us. All the best and hope to see you on the water. I will be sailing on a Dufour 41 classic named “HORA”. Should you see us out there givewave and yell out “HORA”
